Charlotte Price-White (Formerly Bell)

Charlotte Bell, who was born in Scotland before relocating to Bangor to train as a teacher was Secretary of the Bangor branch of the National Union of Women’s Suffrage Societies (NUWSS). One of the leading figures in the North Wales’ Suffragist movement, she was one of only two women from the area (the other being Mildred Spencer from Colwyn Bay) who walked all the way to London in the 1913 NUWSS Pilgrimage. The contingent from North Wales joined up with “The Watling Street Group” and arrived in the capital on 25th July in time for the mass rally in Hyde Park on 26th July. In 1926 she became the first female member of Caernarfonshire County Council.
