Cheryl Beer

Cheryl Beer is as an award-winning Singer/Songwriter, Author & Creative Media Artist. She has spent her career tirelessly pioneering the benefits of Arts & Health, working with thousands of people from all walks of life in Wales, India, Africa and Belarus, to bring about social change for those most in need.
Cheryl is the Founder and Director of Sound Memories, a Dementia Friendly Radio show and since becoming hearing impaired in 2017, has been piloting the impact of Mindfulness and the Arts, having recorded a series of Meditation albums, as well as producing a Radio show concerning the Human Spirit and Wellbeing. Described as a ‘the epitome of person centeredness’, she is a unique combination of artist and academic. Cheryl was the Creative Director and founder of the largest Women’s Music Festival in Europe, based at the National Botanic Garden of Wales and has helped many hundreds of now well-known artists, launch their careers.
Her life story research was published in an international Storytelling Self & Society journal and her story books with young people won Youth Excellence Awards from Welsh Government. Her Mindfulness work in Mental Health was identified as Best Practice at Cambridge University International Mental Health Conference, she won the GOLD National Care Award for her Creative Media Projects with Older people and most recently, an Outstanding Achievement in Creative Media & Significant Contribution to the Arts Award. She is in short, an inspiration.
