Eirwen Gwynn (Formerly St John Williams)

WRITER, WELSH NATIONALIST

Born in Liverpool to Welsh parents, Eirwen Gwynn was a Welsh nationalist and writer. With a PhD in X-Ray Crystallography, she taught and lectured in science, wrote several books and published over 1,000 articles in publications such as the Scientist, the New Scientist, the Observer and Scientific American. In 2006, Eirwen won the Science and Technology Medal at the National Eisteddfod and was made an honorary member of the Gorsedd of Bards.
