Honno Press

WELSH WOMEN’S PRESS

Honno Press began life in a Cardiff kitchen when a group of determined and like-minded women (Kathryn Curtis, Anne Howells, Sheleagh Llewellyn, Ceridwen Lloyd-Morgan, Luned Meredith, Althea Osmond and Roseanne Reeves) got together. Identifying a gap in the market for books relevant to women in Wales in both English and Welsh, they published their first books in 1987, one in Welsh by Hafina Clwyd, one in English by the Welsh-born Crimean War nurse Elizabeth ‘Betsi’ Cadwaladr.

Since then, their books have won the Arts Council of Wales Book of the Year Award, the Raymond Williams Community Publishing Award and the Pandora’s Box Award for Women in Publishing.
