Jade Jones
TAEKWONDO ATHLETE, 2012 AND 2016 OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALLIST
Introduced to taekwondo at eight years old by her grandfather in Denbighshire, Jade Louise Jones took up the sport full-time at 16. Only a year later, she won a bronze medal at the European Championships, and a gold at the Youth Olympics. Two years after that, she beat China’s Hou Yuzhou to win an Olympic gold, the first ever Briton to do so in her discipline. She was given an MBE in the 2013 New Year Honours for services to her sport, and won Olympic gold again in 2016, against Spain’s Eva Calvo.
