Joan Coke
WOMAN POLICE CONSTABLE
Joan Coke was one of the first 17 women to be appointed as police officers for Cardiff in 1947. During her service Joan worked as a Sergeant, in CID and received a commendation from the Chief Constable before being the first police woman to leave South Wales Constabulary with a retirement pension.
