Joanna Penberthy
FIRST WOMAN BISHOP IN CHURCH IN WALES
Born in Swansea and educated in Cardiff High School, Joanna Susan Penberthy was the first woman to become a bishop in the Church in Wales. Enthroned at St Davids Cathedral on 11 February 2017, Penberthy had previously been a Rector in the diocese of Swansea and Brecon, and served as a deaconess and priest in the dioceses of Llandaff, St Asaph and St David’s.
