Kirsty Williams
FORMER LEADER OF WELSH LIBERAL DEMOCRATS, EDUCATION SECRETARY
Brought up in Carmarthenshire, Kirsty Williams, former Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats, has been an Assembly Member of the National Assembly of Wales since 1999. In 2012 she won ITV’s Assembly Member of the Year Award and was awarded a CBE in 2013. In 2013 she introduced legislation to ensure safe levels of nurses in Welsh hospitals, the More Nurses Bill voted through the Assembly in 2016, made Wales the first nation in Europe to introduce such law. Kirsty is currently Education Secretary for the Welsh Government.
