Megan Lloyd George

FIRST WELSH WOMAN MP IN WALES

Megan Lloyd George, born in Caernarfonshire, was the first female MP for Wales. She served as Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party before becoming a Labour MP later in life. She was a leading figure on the unofficial, non-party woman power committee, campaigning for women’s rights and equal pay. A Welsh patriot, she was elected a bard of the National Eisteddfod in 1935 and became the first woman member of the Welsh church commissioners in 1942.
