Mary Wynne Warner
MATHEMATICIAN
Born in Carmarthen and raised in Llandovery, Mary Wynne Davies won a scholarship to study mathematics at Oxford in 1950, later earning her doctorate at the University of Warsaw. In the field of fuzzy topology, she was recognized as one of the leading international experts. She taught and researched in Beijing, Rangoon and Kuala Lumpur, before returning to England to teach and research at City University, London, in the 1970s where she became a professor in 1996, two years before her death.
