Dame Nicola Davies
FIRST WELSH FEMALE QC, FIRST WELSH FEMALE HIGH COURT JUDGE
Born in Llanelli and educated at Bridgend Girls’ Grammar School, Nicola Davies became the first Welsh woman to be appointed a QC in 1992, at the age of 39. She is acknowledged as the highest medical defence QC in the UK, representing Harold Shipman through his trial in 2000, and also being involved in many other high-profile legal cases such as the BSE inquiry and allegations of child abuse at care homes in North Wales.
