FOUNDER OF WELSH HOUSING AID (SHELTER CYMRU) WELSH ASSEMBLY MEMBER

Val Feld, born in Bangor, was the founder and Director of Shelter Cymru from 1981 until 1989. As well as her role as Labour AM for Swansea East, she also served as Director of the Equal Opportunities Commission Wales working to promote the rights of women and minority groups. As a reward for her achievements, Val became the first woman to be honoured with the purple plaque.
